Go to editbuttons, and I think there's one of those 'make single user' buttons
That will make a copy of the mesh just for that object

Its normal that it destroys your uvs, have you tried deletingHistory and then map it ?

If I rig my lowpoly version of my model
I should be able to Bind that to the high poly mesh?
Then just animate/rig the lowpoly right

Depends how its animated i guess
If your using a skeleton you should be able to take the animated skeleton and skin it to the low poly model

they both are dependant on the gfx card
its just that Directx seems to be able to survive a little better with the lower end / less supportive directX cards
then OGL does for the similar situations ...

hmm closed illustrator, reloaded the file and resaved as a version 3 file and it works

my options are CS2 , CS , 10,9,8, and 3 japanese
never used illustrator cs2 before , im usin a co-workers computer to do it,

uhm, depending on how accurate the distortion of the tube should be with the object in side it, you could use BULGE

How if only i could figure out this dynamics issue with hair/fur plugin, its collision detection on the collision object is detecting the collision a good distance away from the actual contact surface
