How about selling your models on specialised internet sites?

Hi!

What are your thoughts on selling some models on sites that are buying and selling models? For each model they`ll sell, the autor gets 60 - 70
% of its price usually. Is it worth it? I dont expect to get rich that way Wink but just to be able to earn some money by selling mostly medium poly models of buildings, furniture, household objects, etc.

Do any of you get any experience with such sites, any recomendations/ things to avoid or be careful about? How about payment method, paypal or something else - I live in Poland and it might be a factor.

Also, what kind of sales I can expect, should I be happy when someone will finally buy one of my models, or does it look a bit better? Wink

Thanks for your time and input.

HI Tomasz79 Smile
There is great competition in the 3d models for sale market.
You have to make really good 3d models that will stand out, and even then people have to find them among the multitude of similar 3d models.

The artists that have started years ago already have permanent buyers who like their quality.

There are many 3d artists from India and China that will sell quality 3d models really cheap.

Thanks!

The more I browse through these sites, the more stuff I find, there is indeed great competition. I`ll post few of my models here, it`s hard being self critical, your opinion of them will be very appreaciated.

What do you say?

Would you bought it? Wink

The quality is quite good. The only problem is that people will usually buy bulk collection with hundreds of similar models for something like $30 - $60. It means that one single model costs less than $1. But if you make the collection with this quality it may have success.

It is always better to create something that has big demand and almost no offer.

You were so right about competition: I made a lamp, made a search for lamps on TurboSquid to check therir prices and quality and found... more than 7000 results for a search "lamp" - shocking!

Funny thing I just made my first sell with my lamp, but I made it quite cheap...

The collection/bundle is a good idea, it cost work but is much more reasonable/money well spent for people.

As for your last sentence, thats true, but what could it be? Architectural models are in high demand, but equally big offerings. I can`t think of such thing so far, if you got any ideas let me know.

Thanx and take care.

Here my advise. Dont sell your models on turbosquid. Create your own site with your content

Nice suggestion, practical and a very easy process at the same time. This will enable you to avoid scams and other unwanted fees that could lessen your profit.

Creating your own website and displaying your products would be the right act, and at the same time, advertise your website by adding it on your signature, avatar or to your profile information so that people could see your offers Smile

Good luck!

Yeah, your own website will be the best choice. These models are very nice. Have you been trying to make some interiors?
