Rising Sun Pictures is excited to offer a long term Senior Matte Painting position.
Employment period: This position is long term and commences immediately.
Location: Adelaide, Australia. This position is open to Australian and international applicants.
- Position Overview -
Senior Matte Painters at RSP set creative and technical benchmarks. With years of experience behind them, Seniors DMP's can step into leadership positions when required, and are naturally adept at creating the world's best high-end matte paintings. Your extensive experience will require you to use a combination of effects tools including Photoshop & Nuke to complete stunning environments. Photo-realistic paint skills are of course essential. Your reel will extensively showcase examples of live-action work.
You are a professional artist who works collaboratively with your team and associated departments. You are an excellent time manager and forward thinker who delivers to schedule and brief. You have a well-developed creative eye and a deep understanding of working with depth, lighting and perspective achieve realism.
- Responsibilities -
- Create realistic high-end matte paintings, including: from scratch digital matte paintings, projection mapping and scene augmentation.
- Collaborate with show supervisors, assisting in the conceptualisation of environments.
- Work with all DMP & Environment team members collaboratively to tight delivery parameters.
- Work in collaboration with leads from other departments ensuring they receive timely and dependable inputs.
- When required, act as a team &/or sequence lead, reviewing and approving all work for internal and external delivery, ensuring it hits creative and technical notes.
- All senior artists at RSP are expected to lead by example through mentoring and developing less experienced team members. Knowledge sharing is expected in this role.
- Promote a collaborative and enjoyable workplace, influencing morale, fostering purposeful discussion and positive work ethic.

- Expert user of Photoshop & proficient in Nuke. Experience with Maya & Mari is a plus.

- Maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a deadline focused work environment.
- Excellent leadership, people management and organisational skills.
- Technical and creative problem-solving with a can-do mindset.
