Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is looking for Software Engineer
Starting Date: June 1, 2012, duration - regular employee
Job details: The Mechanical, Aerospace & Nuclear Engineering Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is seeking applicants for the position of Software Engineer in the School of Engineering to develop virtual environments for medical simulations with integrated realistic, real time graphics and haptics.
The incumbent will perform intensive programming with OpenGL and C++ and manage large projects, working with faculty, staff, students and medical collaborators.
Requirements: Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and 3 years of relevant experience, including experience with source code control (svn, cvs) and C++ object-oriented programming skills is required.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s in Computer Science or related field with 1 or more years of experience in multithreaded programming, background in interactive graphics programming, and experience with OpenGL GLSL and C++. Knowledge of game programming, and experience with 3D object modeling software such as 3ds max, Maya is highly desired. Experience with physics simulation, i.e., rigid bodies, collision detection is a plus.
