Job details: Title: Software Developer
Reports to: Studio Manager
Summary of Position:
This position develops and supports the software and systems used in the production of CG in the
Content Creation group. In addition to maintaining and enhancing existing software and/or systems,
individuals filling the position will participate in the design and development of new software and/or
systems.
Responsibilities:
• Primarily responsible for the development, documentation, maintenance and upkeep of
production software and/or systems. This includes bug fixing, upgrades, enhancements and
integration into the production pipeline
• Diagnoses and effects resolution of end-user problems
• Participates in development projects under the guidance of Team Leads and Studio
Manager
• Serves as an initial point of support and knowledge resource for software and/or systems
used in production at RTT.
• Communicates with end-users and end-user groups to determine technical requirements
and disseminate information regarding project status
• Acts as a liaison between outside vendors and the department for purposes of coordination
of maintenance and bug fixing
Education, Experience and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline required.
• 2-4 years demonstrated experience in software or systems development for computer
graphics, including one or more of the following areas; Asset Management, Compositing
Systems, Renderers and Shaders, and Distributed Processing Systems
• Significant experience and working knowledge of software development and scripting ,
preferably in Python.
• Experience using, and/or developing software under MS Windows and OS X
• Maya, Mental Ray, and Nuke experience preferred, with experience in scripting and plugin
development.
• Must be able to work well with a wide range of personality types. Ability to work in all levels
of the organization
• Must be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and
multi-task
• Demonstrated ability to use logic to problem-solve. Willingness to take initiative and resolve
problems
• Experience supporting End Users is required. Must be customer service orientated
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail and quality
control
• Ability to work well independently within a fast paced, dynamic, deadline orientated
environment
