Maya 2011 NURBS to Smooth polygons problem.

Im Working on some little background animations for a film short, and I want to have animated lines/tubes, floating in the wind.
So I have to animate the induvidual verteces. Problem is, i dont know how. I made the shape of the floating tubes with curves, and then converted them to polygons to get verteces, but im stuck there.

Do you guys have some great ideas? I would love to post screenshots, but forum wont let me for some reason..
