Automatic 3D modeling using photos.

Hello!
There is a program that builds 3D models using a number of photos of a real model. It can also decimate number of faces of this model to an acceptable small number and export model in a number of common formats (Wavefront OBJ, 3DS Max, PLY, VRML, COLLADA, Universal 3D, PDF). This is PhotoScan from AgiSoft
I am interesting whether it can help with 3D modeling, animation, etc.?
Best regards, Denis Rodikov

It can help with modeling to a degree, if I remember you have to create points by clicking on matching intersecting verticies in 2 or more photos. How accurate you click on those intersections will effect the accuracy of the model's final dimensions. If you have a complex object, it could get quite involved. I normally measure everthing if possible.

Don"t know if that helps,
