Hello all you 3d Guru's,

I'm currently looking to buy a new workstation but have no idea on a spec, model or manufacturer. The only things i can be certain of are the budget and the applications i'm going to be using.

My criteria would be as follows;

The workstation would need to be powerful enough to run maya,3d max,zbrush,cinema4d and adobe applications smoothly either individually or simultaneously.

The workstation would need to be able to work efficiently when undertaking animation, modelling, textures, lighting and composition.

Your advice is much appreciated guys... Very Happy

There are 2 ways to go AMD or Intel.
AMD is the less expensive alternative:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
Mother Board: AM3
RAM: 6-8GB DDR3
Is the most powerful you can get at the moment from AMD.

Intel is the more expensive but more productive alternative.
I would wait till they releases the corrected version of sandy bridge motherboards and go with an i7-2600k processor.

Regarding the GPU, I would spend all the money left on it. The more expensive is the GPU the better the workstation for 3d graphics. Smile
