3ds Max: Bump mapping problem in Max 5

Hi, I have been doing this today with Max 5, and when rendered with scanline it looks allright, but using light tracer makes the bump map look awful. Looks like the more perpendicular to the camera, the worse it gets.

Ive been tweaking with Ray sample, filter size, bounces, adaptive undersampling, always getting bad results.

I can use Brazil beta, but I want to know if there is something wrong with this new feature.

Anybody can help me?
