3dsmax: extrusion on a plane

Yo
Got a polymodelling question
I'm trying to do something very simple... a creased extrusion on a plane
Anyone have a decent way off doing this?
When I chamfer the edges I get tris
What should I do?

Add new loops which end at the tris by using cut for example
Or connect & cut
There are many ways to work out chamfer end tris

So first chamfer, then work out the tris, or slice edgeloops and then I don't have to chamfer?

You have to chamfer

Ok, thanks
I'll try to work it out

Cut (alt+c) and target weld (ctrl +shift+w) are the most used tools to refine the chamfering
Sometimes its a hard puzzle game to find a satisfying solution

It surprises me I've never had this problem before

Maybe the chamfer does not go along the loop

What do you mean?
Hmm I keep getting an extra tri no matter how I divide the n-gon

Oh well I guess I can live with it, it meshsmoothes pretty ok
Yeah that's the solution for a 6-sided polygon... mine comes outs 5 or 7 sided :\

There is always a dividing solution to make an ngon to quads

Oh wait a minute, I'm fuckin stupid
Yeah you're right
I should've though about cutting the vertex in the middle of the polygon

Yes you'll get used to it
I had a situation where i tried hours to find a good solutions which doesnt add me more loop as necessary
