Position: Character Artist, PSP Project

Sony Online is looking for an experienced Character Artist to join its PSP development group. SOEs PSP division is dedicated to creating innovative and successful IPs for the platform. We have already developed the successful Untold Legends Action RPG franchise and the highly anticipated turn based strategy game Field Commander. We are currently looking for a highly motivated and effective individual who wants to be part of a team creating fresh intellectual property for an action-arcade style game for the PSP.

Basic Requirements:
An Associates Degree or Certification in Art or equivalent education and/or experience.
Prior experience designing and modeling digital characters for games; a minimum of one complete game cycle is required.
An excellent UV layout and texturing skills, a sophisticated eye for color, shape and form, and can create highly detailed, realistic or stylized model skins.
Solid knowledge of all modeling, texturing and shading tools and techniques in A|W Maya or a similar package.
Ability to design, model and texture high-quality characters in a variety of styles and polygon resolutions.
Attention to detail and ability to accurately follow instructions.

General Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Design to create dynamic characters concepts in a broad range of styles; develop and visualize those designs through traditional and digital 2D art.
Utilize 3D modeling skills, including a strong understanding of efficient techniques for game production.
Create stylized characters with dynamic proportions and detail.
Adjust to new tools, techniques and procedures and execute consistent work in a variety of styles and genres.
Work within technical limitations, delivers game-ready graphics.

Desirable qualifications:
Zbrush, normal-mapping, next-gen shader building experience
