BioWare Corp. is looking for Lead Animator

Job details: Lead Animator BioWare Austin is in search of a Lead Animator for BioWare's first Massively Multiplayer Online game studio located in Austin, Texas. The candidate must have at least 3 years experience in animation for games, and a strong understanding of the fundamentals of traditional animation. The candidate must also have experience with prototyping animation systems, building the technical pipeline for animation implementation, directing and editing mo-cap, and directing and inspiring a team of highly talented individuals.

Experience and Qualifications
Various degrees of education and experience will be considered provided the candidate's application demonstrates the following requirements:
Post secondary program in 2D/3D animation is preferred.
Experience with a mo-cap, mo-cap production pipeline including planning and managing a mocap shoot
5 years of game development experience with one or more shipped game titles.
Expert technical knowledge of 3D Studio Max.

Duties
Develop all in-engine animation assets.
Prototype rigging, skinning, and implement systems to enhance animation pipeline.
Development of the overall 3D animation creation pipeline from process to evaluation of needed tools
Direct others to animate dynamic, believable and appealing characters.
Be fully responsible for a body of work, seeing it through to completion, in a timely manner, and to the highest quality possible.
As a member of a team, you must be able to both give and receive critiques on in-engine animation work. Ensure work is executed at highest quality possible across the team.
Management of a team including internal and external resources
Clearly communicate your progress to your supervisor, and work with the team to achieve animation excellence.

Skills / Abilities / Knowledge / Personal Suitability
Ability to bring visual excellence to a game engine.
Plan the production schedule for a team to complete large body of work.
Ability to direct others to achieve visual excellence on time and on budget.
Knowledge of directing Motion Capture an asset.
Must be able to lead in a team environment, and be able to give progress updates.
Insight into animation pipeline and game engine implementation an asset.
An understanding of human and animal anatomy is an asset.
Passion for animation and gaming is required.

Portfolio Requirements
All portfolios must contain a detailed shot breakdown of the work. It must be very clear what you, the applicant, are responsible for in your reel, screenshots, scanned pictures, web page portfolio, etc. We would also like you to include your name in the subject line of your emailed application, as well as the competition number of the position(s) that you are applying for.

Examples of technical animation work: rigging, skinning
Examples of various animations cycles applied to game characters
Examples of motion capture direction and clean-up
2D portfolio (no originals please)
Figure drawing
Color work
