I think i know what kinda work u wanna do in 3d i suggest u to go for cinema 4D coz..its easy enough to use with some advance video editing system like after effect, motion..

Well i am a huge fan of cinema 4D mograph..its best then any of maya and max..

I use 3ds max for modeling prps..and 3D maya for riigging and paint brush and cinema 4D ...
