you got your uvw editor open, right go to tools-render and it will let you choose from several different choices like to embed the normals or to give your templete an alpha chanel or to highlight the overlaping uvs. Just be sure to save the templete the same aspect ratio as you plan to use for your maps!

is there any way to save an image of my UV map in 3dsmax? so i can use it in photoshop as a frame?
