  1. Use detailed subjects. Subjects like "Please help" or "3d modeling question" are not useful. Write specifically what you want to know or what kind of help you need, also specify the software you use in the subject.
  2. SPAM is Not allowed on 3dmd Forums. If your message is identified as spam your account will be deleted with all your postings so don't lose time.
  3. Do not post the same message in different forums this is considered spam and may lead to your account deletion. Instead choose the forum that best suits your topic and post there.
  4. Use the search before posting a question. Many questions have been already answered. If the answer you found lacks some details it is better to reply to that topic and ask for more details instead of creating a new topic.

Hey, I think I'll try to be help and actually answer the question you asked. So you are going to need a physics engine, and assuming your an artist, it will have to be an engine that already exists inside an application. The only applications that I know of that will do what you want are game engines. Many engines have free/non-comercial versions, so I'm sure you could find one.

***NOTE***
Simulating aerodynamics is not standard in most physics engines, so before you down-load see if it supports what you need.

Other than coding a program yourself, I really can't see any other solution, but I hope you find it. And everyone else can continue a conversation that makes no sense to you

In the car industry they have programs for that Razz
Bill Liu Posted: July 28, 2006
Ati and nvidia will have the ability to run both physics and graphics on 1 gpu , or dedicate 1 gpu for physics specificly if in SLI
ZaSCoK Posted: July 22, 2006
I wouldn't call it half-assed yet
Carl Cates Posted: July 22, 2006
Nothing beats Meqon
Those are just halfassed crossfire/sli solutions
Am I right?
Or is it a GPU doing both graphics and physics?
Because I've read that is gonna be more possible with Dx10
ZaSCoK Posted: July 22, 2006
ATI is showing off their capabilities at Computex
They are using Havok
Carl Cates Posted: July 22, 2006
Or they could try to amass industrial experience from scratch (or do industrial espionage on ageia)
ZaSCoK Posted: July 22, 2006
Wait and see
Carl Cates Posted: July 22, 2006
To be exact 1 hour 13 minutes
They wouldn't have the same know-how that Meqon/Ageia has though..
The problem is that the PPU requires cooling
Both chips under one fan?
I would hope one of them just bought Ageia and assimilated it into a GPU :p
If they'd try it alone, without their experience, I know they'd just do it halfassed
ZaSCoK Posted: July 22, 2006
For the PPU though I'd prefer ATI or nVidia
Carl Cates Posted: July 21, 2006
Time? you need about 1 hour Smile
ZaSCoK Posted: July 21, 2006
I haven't yet
I have the link bookmarked
Need more time first
Carl Cates Posted: July 21, 2006
Gobbled up by Nvidia
Nvidia was one of the "babies" born out of the GPU generation
You are talking not just about Ageia specifically, but the concept and idea of a tertiary PPU
Whether it be in the form of Ageia... or Ageia bought up by Nvidia
Or ATI
did you see that documentary?
ZaSCoK Posted: July 20, 2006
3dfx
In the end
Carl Cates Posted: July 20, 2006
They?
ZaSCoK Posted: July 20, 2006
Well
Lol
Where are they?
Wink
Carl Cates Posted: July 19, 2006
Oh ok
Time will tell
But I remember people said the same thing when the voodoo came Very Happy
ZaSCoK Posted: July 18, 2006
I'm not talking about physics acceleration in general
I'm speaking of Ageia
And their sucess
They need to justify now a reason to own a $200 physics card
Carl Cates Posted: July 18, 2006
I doubt it will die off
This isn't some premature gimmick like Virtual Reality in 95
It will either live on in some form or another
Either as part of Nvidia/ATI Gpu's.. or as a function in SLI-solutions
Or Ageia will conquer that market
ZaSCoK Posted: July 17, 2006
Right now it needs the game more so
Game market*
So they need a few killer titles
Or it won't go past infacy
Especially if ATI or nVidia can counter it
Carl Cates Posted: July 17, 2006
Only XSI 5 Advanced
No other apps so far
Ppu technology is in stage of infancy
ZaSCoK Posted: July 17, 2006
I've only heard XSI announce it
But I don't believe it's implemented yet
If it has, there has been no testing of it yet
Carl Cates Posted: July 16, 2006
You're talking about games
I said it could be used for 3d applications
ZaSCoK Posted: July 16, 2006
Show me one benchmark it does any good on
Heh
Besides their own Cell Factor
Nothing uses it efficiently right now
If at all even
ATI is aggressivly seeking their own GPU based solution.
Carl Cates Posted: July 16, 2006
Depends on what you use it for
