Post subject: Help needed to chose rendering Software (particles, smoke)
Hi everyone,
I have a set of particles with radii and alpha values from a Fluid Simulation I programmed. Those are in *.txt files per frame of animation. Particle counts range from 200k up to 1M. I would like to render those particles by some sort of Volume Rendering, including realistic shadows. Could anyone recommend me a Software Package to achieve this task? The software does not necessarily need to be free, but a free trial version should be available. I'm up to do some scripting in the software package recommended if needed. Also, pointers to (partial) solutions or tutorials to achieve my task in the software package you recommend would be highly appreciated.
Thanks for you Help,
Shial

I don't know of any software that could do it out of the box without plugins or scripts.
You can try blender it's open source and you can change it as you need.
I am really curious to know how you did it.
