Post subject: What is the best method to create fur for animation

Hello!

I work in max and and what I need is to create good looking short fur for animated character. Something like chimpanzee has.
At the beginning I tried Hair and Fur because it looks good but I found that it doesn't when I need short fur. I'm testing Hairtrix now but maybe some of you guys could tell me if Hairtrix is actually good idea before I'll lost my time for testing it. Maybe you have some systems that works great for animation and gives good effect. I was trying to find something about it but I've only found that some people use C4D for problematic fur like this (and only for this) because it renders fast and looks good, but I'm not sure if it is good idea to use C4D for good looking short fur only. I'd be glad for help, especially because few more such characters before me.

Here are some good fur tips:

The guy is talking about: http://www.hair-farm.com/ as something more advanced than standard max fur.
I personally have not used fur so can't help you.

Thank's Andyba. I'll read that. It may be interesting. What about Hair Farm - if you work with hair much you have to test it. I tried it yesterday and it's really very powerful. Rendering quick like hell, non problematic in use, modifiers are goes to proper order automatically. It's definately worth of trying Smile
