Multiple passes in 3ds max

I am a bit vague on how multiple passes work in max. My guess is that you render out lets say a black and white reflection pass, then add it to the main animation in premiere pro... but as I said, to me it is vague. Can anyone send me a good tutorial which covers this plz. |
