Hi!
I'm trying to work out a way of animating natural-looking plant growth with polygons. I need to create a time-lapse style growth effect to feature in a computer game project, so it absolutely has to be done with polygons (ideally using Maya). I'm sure I've seen a technique involving polygons forming along a path or curve - does anyone have any insight into this? Alternatively, does anyone have a different technique for achieving this growth effect? Thanks very much for your time, Jamie. |

Animating a realistic plant growth with polygons is not so easy...
try using blend shapes to animate the repeating elements of your plant... leaves etc. Then position copies of these animated elements in time and space so that they form the growing plant. _________________ Andyba, 3d artist skills: 3d modeling, texturing, rendering, 3d character animation, compositing 3d software experience: 3ds max, Maya, Softimage XSI, Deep Paint 3d, Body Paint 3D, Wings 3D, Z Brush 2d software experience: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After effects, Macromedia Flash, Freehand |
