Does anyone know a pipeline to get animation data from maya into XSI? Help greatly appreciated.

If this ever comes out http://sourceforge.net/projects/dotxsi4maya/ then it will solve your problem.


Untill then try Maya>movetools>Soft3D>XSI.


or


Maya>Polytrans>Soft3D>XSI

dotXSI will be the perfect way, but in the meantime;

It is quite easy, just export your animation from Maya in any know and documented export format and write a little script to load that data from XSI.


Motion capture formats like BVH would do the work for you.

I'm not really that technical a 3d guy. Does anyone know of a plug-in solution to getting a model and or animation data from Maya to XSI?

Ive had the same problem. Polytran is a good program the exports .IGES files from MAYA which XSi can read..

The trial version removes every 5th polygon Sad

The full version is about $300!! But if yr at uni or working for a company Im sure they'd agree its a good investment!

Export to Autodesk FBX then import it in Xsi.
