Midway Games is looking for Technical Director
duration - Full Time

Job details: Technical Director Directs and controls the activities of a large staff of programmers and software engineers involved in product development. Accountable for ongoing assessment of programming needs and deploying sufficient resources to meet agreed upon objectives, schedules and budges at the highest level of quality. Takes ultimate responsibility for all software developed by company.

Essential Functions:
1. Identifies, creates and implements the official company-wide standards of technical quality.
2. Implements and maintains procedures for achieving company-wide quality standards.
3. Reviews all Technical Design Documents (TDD's) and programming schedules for projects.
4. Directs a staff of Senior and Lead Programmers, and ensures their ongoing training and development.
5. Manages the Lead Programmers and the Technology Department.
6. Assigns and monitors work of programming personnel.
7. Assures that all programming personnel are properly qualified, trained and supervised to perform their jobs effectively.
8. Negotiates with highest levels of management on most sensitive time, budget and software functionality trade-offs.
9. Works with executive staff and Leads to determine resource allocations for new projects.
10. Prioritizes programming resource allocations as needed for projects in development.
11. Makes final decision on proposed additions and terminations on all programming staff.
12. Works with executive staff to maintain an environment conducive to high productivity.

Previous Experience:
- 10+ years game industry or related programming experience.
- 5+ years Lead Programmer experience.
- A history of developing software architecture and TDD's.
- A history of shipping commercially successful products.


Skills and Abilities:
1. Demonstrated competency in all of the following specialties, with an expertise in more than one: physics, 3D graphics/rendering, audio, game logic, AI, cameras, networking, creature animation and game tools.
2. A demonstrated command of applicable programming languages and a thorough knowledge of software design practices including modularity documentation, event-driven architecture, object-oriented design, graphics and animation techniques, interface design practices, portability, extensibility and testability.
3. Demonstrated expertise in the creating of best software practices.
4. Demonstrated ability to solve complex code problems efficiently.
5. Demonstrated experience in building new software technology.
6. Self-starter, analytical, creative, highly motivated and has a visionary spirit.
7. Strong leadership skills in terms of identifying and communicating goals and risks to the team.
8. Team play with strong influencing skills.
9. Proven track record of success as it relates to the full lifecycle of product development, launch and revenue success.
