It's also a hardware
PPU = physics processing unit
XSI 5 advanced supports Ageia PhysX actually

Ageia bought Meqon too
So they ought to be the best on the subject
40k boxes colliding simultaneously instead of 40 boxes
And alleviates CPU
Plus it simulates liquids , etc
Http://www.ageia.com/physx_in_action/tech_demos.html
Check both videos..

Of course not... if it runs slower than on the cpu - you have a problem Wink

Imagine it'd be useful for simulating physics in a 3d animation scene
Instead of waiting ages

But if you want a REALLY complex scene.. using the CPU will be slow anyway
Not talking about software limitations here.. just the vast hardware difference of PPU vs CPU
For that kind of calculation

Show me one benchmark it does any good on
Heh
Besides their own Cell Factor
Nothing uses it efficiently right now
If at all even
ATI is aggressivly seeking their own GPU based solution.
