On Oct. 4, 2005, Autodesk announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Alias, a privately held developer of 3D graphics technology, for $182 million in cash.
What do you think about this event? |

I think it was a shock for many fans of MAYA.
But I don't think it will hurt them, with Autodesk's money the program will only get better and better and it will become more popular as well. |

I think Autodesk will one day take over the entire 3D industry.
It has bought over too many 3D applications. |

It already did imho: Autodesk 3ds max Autodesk Maya Autodesk Softimage Autodesk Mudbox Autodesk Motion Builder And I'm not even mentioning all the composing software they got from discreet. They only need Autodesk renderman or Autodesk mentalray to have a complete domination of 3d industry But still there is blender 3d that they cannot buy... so they will always have a competitor _________________ Andyba, 3d artist skills: 3d modeling, texturing, rendering, 3d character animation, compositing 3d software experience: 3ds max, Maya, Softimage XSI, Deep Paint 3d, Body Paint 3D, Wings 3D, Z Brush 2d software experience: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After effects, Macromedia Flash, Freehand |
