Then you might be interested in joining us over at Doppelganger. Were a hot, well-funded San Francisco based stealth startup backed by two top Silicon Valley venture capital firms, and our only focus is building cool application that will make everyone involved a bunch of money.

Were looking for a 3D Environment Artist to help with the creation of a revolutionary virtual world for the PC. Working with the Art Director and an environment team comprised of traditional game artists and commercial architects, the Environment Artist will be responsible for the creation of our unique spaces based on hot media licenses.

Job Description
The Environment Artist works closely with the Art Director to define aesthetic goals, solve technical issues, formulate long-term strategies for creating, building, and expanding environments, and execute all agreed items in production.

Preferred Experience
2 year experience in the video gaming industry.
Involved in shipping a major game title as an environment artist.

Position responsibilities
Design, model, texture paint, and UVW map low poly environment geometry and world objects using 3DS Max, CSG modeler, and Photoshop.
Export to 3D engine, fine tune with proprietary and/or 3rd party editors, and debug all associated issues.
Keep current on online games, architectural trends, game engineering parameters, production software, and other relevant game development items.

Position qualifications
Artistic/Technical skills: must possess fine-tuned aesthetic sensibilities with understanding of technical game environment parameters for practical application of the aesthetics.
2nd tier technical understanding: ability to frequently work with an engineering team comprised of traditional game programmers and enterprise software engineers. A strong understanding of hardware limitations is helpful.
Flexibility: should be able to respond to shifting aesthetic requirements and technical constraints.
Great interpersonal and professional skills: easygoing yet professional manner; able to gel with many disparate personalities and folks from various disciplines.
