Job details: Character Setup Artist Character Setup Artist -- Contractor
Factor 5 is looking for someone to help with character development tasks on an original next-generation title. This is a renewable ten month contract position.
Responsibilities
Point-weighting bound meshes
Propagating skeletons
Assist with facial setups, dynamic cloth, and in-game physics
Work under the Character Technical Directors, taking input from Lead Animator and Technical Artist; work with Production staff to ensure deadlines are met effectively
Test game assets
Write MEL scripts to automate the character creation process
Level of Detail model creation
Job Requirements
Minimum one year professional experience rigging and weighting characters
A deep understanding of Maya and MEL scripting
A basic understanding of character animation is preferred
Team-oriented with the ability to communicate effectively with artists, animators, and programmers
Attention to detail
Willing to work additional hours when necessary
Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts with technical emphasis, or equivalent background
