Radeon 5770 was very good at its time and there were no problems with 3ds max as well.

Kind of old topic.But if you would do it today, you need an i7 cpu, 16+ Gb of ram, an 256+ GB SSD, and an R9 290X or Nvidia Titan.

I don't have any real experience with these cards but benchmarks shows that R9 290X in some tests is outperforming the Titan.
And it's 40% cheaper than Titan.
But titan is still a higher end Video C ...

Almost any 3d software with rendering capabilities can do this.
