If you are using photoshop the PNG support is abysmal |

It manages to pick a reasonably good combination of filters and flags
No complaints Gimp's support is good too |

It wont save out an alpha channel, it assumes that you are using it for transparency so you have to "make" your alpha with the eraser |

I was a huge anti-canvas-transparency person back when they introduced that
But then it really grew on me |

Not everybody is using the alpha channel for transparency |

DDS also supports alpha channels obviously
Bitmap does also if I recall correctly If you like several meg images |
